Bizarre Recall Involves Contaminated Dog Food and 14 Cases of Salmonella Poisoning in People

Diamond Pet Foods has voluntarily recalled some brands of dry dog and cat food that it manufactured in its Gaston, S.C. facility between December 9, 2011 and April 7, 2012 due to potential Salmonella contamination.

According to the CDC report, the dog food, which is made in South Carolina, may have affected customers in nine different states, with Kansas and Missouri being a possible outbreak possibility. It is believed the people got sick after having contact with their dogs after consuming the food.
